Hangover Cure Test 1 April 11th, 2009 By: John Fujimoto
Hangovers are a part of life, whether it be in the form of a mild migraine or to the point that you are forced to call in "sick" to work. All normal people have had one at least once in their life.
Luckily, DST interviewed patrons of 39 Hotel Street one evening to find out their "cures" for the day after an all-night bender. But how do we know that their answers were legit? Well, during the next upcoming months I plan to put all twenty "Hangover Cures" to the test.
Well I woke up this morning with a mild hangover after three hours of wine "tasting" and Acid Wash last night, and decided to commence with the first Hangover Cure Test, provided by Angie.
Hangover Cure Test (Part 1)
Angie, Professional Alcoholic
"Eggs. They have amino acids that break down alcohol. Bacon, any greasy foods and water."

Severity of hangover: 4/10
Symptoms: Moderate nausea, moderate fatigue, moderate upset stomach, mild dizziness, mild dehydration, very mild headache
Despite receiving nine hours of sleep, I still awoke this morning with a mild hangover. Sure, I could have gone to Zippy's or any breakfast restaurant for this meal, but I decided to attempt it myself. I made five strips of bacon, two over-easy eggs, and had a 16.9 ounce glass of water to compliment it. Sure, even the attempt of making the aforementioned items were a challenge in itself, but the dish was an overall success.
Immediately after consuming the bacon, eggs and water, the dizziness fully subsided. However, thirty minutes after the meal I regretted eating so much. My upset stomach was worse than before and I was in a serious food coma in which my brain was merely functioning on essential motor-skills. On the bright-side, because my brain was temporarily switched off, I felt no nausea or headache. Yet, I felt exponentially more dehydrated than I did in the morning...so as soon as I got to work, I chugged another bottle of water.
Despite the temporary discomfort of this "Hangover Cure", when I got to work I was fully functional. Sure I was tired, but I still had the energy to work. After an hour at work I couldn't believe that I had a hangover just a couple hours earlier.
Five hours later I felt as if I had a lack of sleep that night before, but felt no evidence of the hangover I once had. Overall, despite some short-term discomfort, the long-term success was worth the effort. My only skepticism is if my nausea was considerably worse, would I be able to stomach this Hangover Cure in the begining?
Overall grade of Hangover Cure: 8/10
