Hush Review January 29th, 2009 By: Corey
Nestled on the outskirts of Waikiki in the Hawaiian Monarch Hotel is a tiny hidden treasure chest called Hush. The somewhat older, outdated, no-frills building dwarfs this small and intimate venue.
From the couches to the paint on the walls, Hush is almost exclusively colored in red, white and black tones. The low lighting and candle lit tables provide a pleasant contrast to the bright white couches. Rounded archways, hanging beads and velvet curtains give the interior a glamorous European feel. Hush is a lounge first and foremost; the dance floor is small and the majority of the venue is filled with countless couches and booths. Six semi-private VIP areas with tables and individual televisions allow for a more intimate setting for you to further separate your party from the rest of the venue. The two enormous bars servicing each of Hush's two rooms more than adequately supply bar patrons with a wide variety of drink choices. Hush also boasts an impressively powerful sound system, rivaling those normally seen at the larger clubs on the island.
"We wanted to create a loungy nightclub versus most places" owner Raymond Ho commented, "the nightclub business has always been a passion of mine." Raymond has been in the industry for over 24 years and used his extensive knowledge to create a place that locals would love. Adding to his already vast experience and knowledge of the industry, Ho and his team recently traveled to nightclubs across the country to witness first-hand what works best to further develop his brainchild. Shortly thereafter, Hush was born.
So if you're looking for a spot to relax with friends, away from the normality of the nightclub scene, this place is for you. Hush is open six days a week and closed on Mondays. Fashionable dress code is enforced. Promoters are scrambling for the chance to make Hush their home base, so expect a wide variety of events to pop up here very soon.
When asked why the name "Hush" was picked, Ho replied, "It's a hidden secret." But not for long.
