Oceans 808 Review February 4th, 2009 By: Corey
It had been thirteen long and arduous months since the Ocean Club at Restaurant Row had closed its doors to the public. But when the newly renovated and renamed Oceans 808 reopened in November of 2008, it was clear that the nearly year long closure was worth the wait.
The outdated 70's motif has been replaced by a contemporary theme, complete with marble, glass, and leather trimmings, transforming the location into a modern and pulsating nightlife venue. But does it all work? Does Oceans 808 still have the same vibe as the former Ocean Club? The simple answer is no. It’s better.
Under entirely new ownership and management, this long standing after-hours spot has undergone extensive renovations. While the façade of the club remains relatively untouched, upon getting closer you will quickly notice some of the alterations made, and not only to the visual aesthetics. Four 18 inch subwoofers shake the floors and force you to feel the music emanating from the brand new sound system. The massive awe inspiring "bubble wall" stretches to the ceiling and spans nearly 20 feet across. DMX LED lights dynamically change to one of the 48 possible hues every few seconds. The tables, walls and ceiling lights are all connected to this color changing system giving the club an active and vibrant finish. To say it is impressive is an understatement.

Oceans 808 is 23 and over every night except Thursdays where it's 21 and over. When asked why the odd 23 and over age limit is in effect, Manager Jason Rod said, "We want Oceans 808 to be a place where ladies can feel safe." You won't find newly 21 year old drunk guys harassing any and every female they see here. "It's all about guest experience. Our environment, specials, and safety team cannot be rivaled," Rod proclaimed.
Since reopening, Oceans 808 is has quickly become the quintessential upscale nightclub experience. A refreshing management outlook, beautiful design elements and a helpful and quick staff all add to the elegant and lavish flair of the club. Oceans 808 was designed with a mature, classy, and debonair clientele in mind. If that's you, Oceans will quickly become your favorite spot on the island.
