Clubs ALL OVER are turning 21+!

Hey I'm new to the forum and pretty new to the site. I really love how this site tells you where all the partys are at for each day of the week.

Okay enough about that.

My friends and I just graduated from high school (yay class of 2008!) and are in that mode where we just want to let loose and party. basically have a good time. Its been good up until this month when we found out that some of our favorite hotspot have changed their policies and now only let the 21+ crowd in. Im pretty sure that there is a link between this and a string of liquor commission people shuting down or giving fines to these clubs for having underage drinkers or the management doesnt want to run the risk of getting a heavy fine for underage drinking but its not all of us under 21 that do this. Isnt there some way that people could warm up to the fact that we 18-20 year olds are a big chunk of their target group?

Anyways, just ranting on that fact and hopefully i get heard. haha

Venus just recently changed their policy to 21+ only.
Oh and PLAYBAR is the worst. 18-20 has to pay 20 bucks for cover PLUS give your ID and another 10-15 dollars as a deposit so you dont drink in there. What is going on with the world today?

If anything Hit me back up. haha. would love to hear feedback

Yeah a bunch of places got hit by liquor commission. To answer your question though, a lot of promoters will only take the risk during college breaks. They feel that the school year is not as profitable, and therefor not worth the possible fine. I agree with you that there is a huge group that is not being marketed to. We are going to start hosting concerts and events, and we will try our best to make the 18+ :D

Wow. I never really thought of it that way. Is it hard to get into promoting because I really think that people 18-20 y/o should have a place that they can go to to have a good time instead of hanging over at their friends house. Gas prices are going down now, more and more people are starting to go out again, and now they dont have any place to go. Not saying that Underage drinking is acceptable but I would much rather have people drinking in a secure setting than at someone's house where a bunch of things could go wrong. just a thought. anyone else care to comment on the topic?

I can understand that it would be a good idea to have a neutral setting where you can drink. However, your safest bet would be at a friend's house. Even in a neutral area, there is a high chance of things going wrong. At least at a friend's house, you are with people you are comfortable around. And can pass out without worrying about anything. If you go to a club and get all blitzed (underage or not), you could end up in a fight with some random person over something trivial. Then add on potentially drinking while intoxicated, if you are in waikiki, cops are everywhere. so you have to be even more careful. Be safe drink at home with some friends.

With different clubs/restaurants serving minors alcohol, they get fined. Even have their licenses suspended. [Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.] There are a few places that are dong 18 and over events. I'm sure by now you know Zansabar has their Weds. event. Its on the DST page. DST has a few events posted which you can check out. Otherwise, I know a few 18 year olds have been hitting Crazy Horse now and again to just chill. Eventually more events will be geared to 18 and over, just keep your eyes out. Or make an event yourself. You have a lot of DST forumers who probably can tell you what you need to know and what you need to get it started.

i didnt go to nightclubs till i was over 21. we'd just drink at friends houses or parties. guess its a lot safer to be at a club. "cant" drink though.
