Necron 99 returns from Seattle, WA to reunite with his Hawaii partner in crime BASS-X for an unforgettable BASSMENT ADDICTS performance thats been a long time coming!
It all began in 1996 with 2 best friends spinning Drum & Bass at home because at the time clubs refused to allow DnB to be played @ their clubs, "Its too fast & dark". As a result these 2 friends and scene heads resorted to throwing Hawaii's first Drum & Bass events, free of charge. Including joining with other scene groups to throw Hawaii's infamous Beach parties @ Diamond Head, Cockroach Cove, Allen Davis, and Makapu lighthouse.
In 1997 these 2 friends became DJ's Necron 99 & Bass-X and their kru became the BASSMENT ADDICTS. The Bassment Addicts grew to be a major player in the scene, as well as spinning every weekend at various clubs, their following grew and they continued throwing their own events, Tonz of Drums, Planet of the Apes, Bassline Lounge, and their infamous monthly REWIND that was packed every month. Bassment Addicts are responsible for putting Hawaii's Drum & Bass scene on the world's map.
In 2002 Necron 99 made the decision to move to the mainland in order to continue growing, Bass-X decided to stay in Hawaii and that year marked the end of Bassment Addicts.
Soon after Necron 99 left, DJ's Konception, Kause, Bass-X, and Mindgame alongside MC's Enemy & Kelvin Zero joined together to form Hawaii's infamous AUDIOLAB kru which carried the monthly drum and bass torch. These DJ's and MC's are remembered for consistently packed events, crowded dancefloors, lighters in the air, yells for rewinds! They began their long succesful run @ Cafe Sistina, then moved to Mercury Bar for first Fridays. Audiolab had a successful run up until 2005, until the torch was passed again and became what is now Subphonix.
Bassment Addicts and Audiolab kru are Hawaii's Originators of Hawaii's Drum and Bass scene, respected and responsible for countless epic events, including spinning alongside some of Drum and Bass' top DJ's & producers over the years, Dieselboy, Tee-Bee, R.A.W, CRS?, Machete, U.F.O, Reid Speed, AK1200, to name a few.
Bassment Addicts are accredited for sparking and building Hawaii's Drum & Bass scene, & Audiolab are accredited for taking it to the next level. Both groups are like no other to watch live as they play off each other, bringing that big bass sound that always delivers fire to the packed dancefloors.
We are proud to annouce an event, years in the making, as both Bassment Addicts & all "Original" Audiolab members come together for 2 unbelieveable reunions on one night only, exclusively @ Alter Solum, 3rd Friday, August 21. Come see where it all began, as DJ's Necron 99, Bass-X, Konception, Kause, & Mindgame grab a hold of 4 turntables, 3 mixers, strictly freestyle, just like old times!
