HAWAII INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL HOSTS MEMBER MIXER AND OPEN HOUSE
Public Invited to Unveiling of the First 2009 Fall Film Entries
HONOLULU, HI (August 4, 2009) See what's hot this year in the independent film world! Learn more about the Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) by joining HIFF staff, the board of directors and Ohana members at the first annual HIFF Members Mixer and Open House. The event is free and open to the public and is being held on Thursday, August 13th at the SOHO Mixed Media Bar in Downtown Honolulu at 80 S. Pauahi Street, from 4:30 7:30 p.m. Guests will be treated to the unveiling of several of the festival's exciting 2009 films and get a chance to see 10 film trailers. The event is open to the public and guests are invited to meet, greet and mingle with HIFF members and other cinephiles. HIFF executive director Chuck Boller will welcome guests, followed by a greeting from board of director Owen Ogawa and then the unveiling of several 2009 films by HIFF program director Anderson Le. Guests will also enjoy complimentary pupus, a cash bar, a raffling drawing for 10 round-trip interisland tickets on go! Airlines and other great prizes and special giveaways. Guests who join as HIFF Ohana Members at the evening's event will receive a discount on membership fees. Plus, anyone who joins or renews their HIFF membership from May 1, 2009 to April 31, 2010, will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a trip to the Seattle International Film Festival in June 2010. The trip includes two roundtrip tickets, hotel accommodations and platinum passes to the Seattle festival.
The SOHO Mixed Media Bar is a unique new hot spot in downtown Honolulu created by nightclub veteran Daniel Gray. SOHO is focusing on bringing together local art, music, and nightlife under one roof. SOHO is located at 80 S. Pauahi Street between Bethel Street and Fort St. Mall.
The 29th Annual festival is being held from Thursday, October 15th through Sunday, October 25th at the Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18 Cinemas. HIFF is the largest "East Meets West" festival in the United States, screening hundreds of films every year from countries across the globe. 2009 general admission tickets, member passes and program guides are not available yet, however HIFF will announce those dates coming soon.
