Honolulu, HI (January 24, 2012) The power of pink is bringing together The Hawaii Affiliate of Susan G. Komen and the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, A Luxury Collection Resort, to raise awareness about the fight against breast cancer by hosting an Inaugural Pink Tie Ball on Friday, March 9, 2012.
"I am honored to be a part of this first-ever event bringing supporters and survivors together to celebrate our mission to find a cure for breast cancer," said event chairperson Maile Kawamura.
The Pink Tie Ball, presented by Honolulu's famed Pink Palace of the Pacific, is an elegant black-tie (pink-tie encouraged) gala featuring pink champagne and cocktail reception, dinner and silent auction. "The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection Resort is honored to have the first Pink Tie Ball for Susan G. Komen," said Royal Hawaiian general manager Kelly Hoen. "The partnership is extraordinary and we are excited to be apart of this inaugural event. With our iconic pink presence there really is great synergy."
During the elegant evening, The Susan G. Komen, Hawaii Affiliate will be honoring Doctor William S. Loui, a passionate advocate in addressing health disparities. He has represented Hawaii on the national Health Disparities Advisory Group for the American Society of Clinical Oncology and has worked in local programs ensuring cancer care for women and minorities.
Dr. Loui is a graduate of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Hematology and Oncology fellowships at the Mayo Clinic. He also completed a Bone Marrow Transplant fellowship at City of Hope National Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is chief of oncology at Queen's Medical Center and clinical assistant professor at the John A. Burns School of Medicine and is an active partner in clinical research with the University of Hawaii Cancer Center. Dr. Loui is the only bone marrow transplant trained MD in Hawaii and triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology. Plus, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Hawaii Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Doors open to the Monarch Ballroom at 6:00 p.m for a cocktail reception. Dinner and Program start at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available for $175 per person.
